Ruby Opara

Ms. Ruby Opara was appointed Director, Internal Controls for Latin America in February 2010. She took on additional oversight and leadership of Accounting for the region in January 2013.

She is responsible for establishing the regional strategy and leading execution of all aspects of Accounting and Internal Controls across Covidien Latin America. Countries covered include Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica & Peru.

Ms. Opara has been with Covidien for over 9 years. She started her career in the company with the Corporate Audit group in Mansfield, MA, where she actively led global audit teams in assessing risk across a wide variety of business operations and processes, provided technical guidance on financial statement standards, and relevant interpretations.

Ms. Opara is a CPA, with an undergraduate degree in Accounting from University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from University of Louisiana, Lafayette.

She sits on the Covidien Global Inclusion Council, and is a Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador and Mentor for the Covidien Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) Latin America. She is also a network Leader for the Miami WLI Chapter.
