Edrice Simmons is Vice President, U.S. Gastroenterology, AbbVie. In this position, she leads a talented team focused on making a difference in the lives of patients living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Ms. Simmons is responsible for leading the Gastroenterology team on the strategic direction and operations of the field sales organization, marketing and the cross-functional, integrated brand team.
Ms. Simmons’ long, successful tenure with the international pharmaceutical leader Eli Lilly was marked by numerous performance-based promotions and above-and-beyond contributions that garnered many awards. In 2014, she joined AbbVie as Senior Marketing Director, U.S. Immunology, where she quickly won the confidence and praise of senior leaders for meeting critical objectives.
Whether uniting stakeholders around a common vision, building and inspiring peak-performing teams, innovating solutions that drive customer value, or leading large-scale organizational change, she gets results. With extensive experience in specialty pharmaceuticals (oncology, diabetes and autoimmune) across virtually all aspects of global and U.S. marketing, branding, and product positioning, Ms. Simmons brings a unique management style that includes enterprising vision, bold passion, tenacity, decisiveness, and continuous drive for improvement.
Ms. Simmons is passionate about her work with the Healthcare Business Women Association, the National MBA Association, and other local community organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors of four not-for-profit organizations and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Ms. Simmons earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Social Work from Ball State University and an MBA in Marketing from Indiana Wesleyan University.
