Katherine (Katie) Licup is Vice President, Enterprise Compliance Programs. She is responsible for oversight of Discover’s Fair and Responsible Banking and Privacy Programs, which assess and monitor fair lending, Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP), and privacy risk across Discover Financial Services.
Katie previously was Director, Privacy Compliance and Chief Privacy Officer, where she established Discover’s privacy program within Corporate Compliance and expanded it to cover international and employee privacy. Katie began her tenure at Discover in 2011 as a credit card regulatory attorney within the law department, where she advised several different marketing units and provided counsel on significant credit card initiatives. She is previous co-chair of Discover’s women’s employee resource group, Professional Women Impacting Results (PWIR), and is also a former co-chair of Discover’s pro bono committee.
Prior to Discover, she practiced law at Foley and Lardner LLP, in Chicago, where she defended a variety of commercial and consumer financial services disputes and represented clients in regulatory proceedings. She also represented children, criminal defendants, and elderly individuals in pro bono matters. Katie earned an undergraduate degree in journalism and U.S. Navy commission from Northwestern University. She received her J.D. with honors from Loyola University Chicago School of Law while completing her final tour of active duty.
