Tammera L. Holmes is a strong advocate for youth in science, technology, engineering, and Mathematics, cultural exposure and career development/ advancements. Holmes has cemented an impressive curriculum vitae and educational background in Aviation. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. She is an upstanding role-model and leader within the African-American and Aviation community. Since 2008, Holmes has been opening doors and spreading knowledge to young people on a field that for most is still very foreign. Her focus is to get more African Americans, females and other underserved and underrepresented populations interested in STEM careers, particularly in the Aerospace industry.
As a national speaker, Tammera spends countless hours with audiences of youth as well as professionals, inspiring each to do their part in building the future of global community and Aviation. She travels, delivering dynamic messages of hope and perseverance through sharing her personal story.
Tammera has been named 1 of only 15 National Afterschool Ambassadors of the Afterschool Alliance based in Washington, D.C. The Afterschool Alliance is the only organization dedicated to raising the nation's awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for all children to have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. Growing up in a crime-ridden western suburb of Chicago (Maywood, IL), Tammera understands the impact the current climate in Chicago has on young people’s ability to expect greatness beyond what they see. Her AeroStar programs offer strategies and tools for a future beyond their imagination and are literally giving "Wings to Dreams."
