Lauren WelchLauren is a member/owner of McCranie, Sistrunk, Anzelmo, Hardy, McDaniel & Welch LLC in New Orleans and has over 30 years experience in civil litigation. She is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell. She primarily litigates matters related to life, health and disability insurance and claims related to employee benefit plans governed by ERISA. Lauren has also litigated transportation/trucking claims and holds a Commercial Drivers License after completing a course where she developed practical skills including the ability to identify the operating parts of a tractor-trailer unit; to perform pre-trip inspections; and to actually operate a tractor-trailer rig. Lauren also has experience in litigating claims involving premises liability, toxic torts, civil rights, and claims arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Lauren obtained her B.S. from LSU and graduated from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert School of Law. Early in her career, Lauren had a son born with multiple physical abnormalities and who was later diagnosed with autism. As the mother of a disabled child, Lauren became interested in gaining knowledge about the legal needs and rights of disabled persons and served on the Louisiana Bar Association’s Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities Committee. She is currently a member of the Magnolia Community Services Family and Friends Association which is involved in ongoing fundraising events and also explores relevant topics such as upcoming legislation affecting persons with disabilities and information regarding eligibility for financial assistance.

Lauren is an active member of DRI’s Life, Health and Disability Committee and serves on the Law Committee for the International Claim Association. She has given presentations at ICA’s annual education conference on various topics, including the Affordable Health Care Act and ERISA Regulations Pertaining to the Full and Fair Review of Claims.
